An overnight cat sitting visit typically includes at least 12 hours of care, with the sitter staying overnight in your home. The total duration may vary based on your sitter's schedule and your mutual agreement. Overnight visits may include:

• Dinner and breakfast feedings for your cat
• Feeding and refreshing water
• Cleaning the litter box
• Playtime and cuddles
• Administering medication (if applicable)
• Photo or video updates from your sitter

Additionally, sitters may help with light household duties, such as bringing in the mail or watering plants. Feel free to discuss any specific preferences or expectations directly with your sitter before booking to ensure your cat's care is tailored to their needs.

Overnight care can be a great option depending on your cat's needs and personality. Here are some scenarios to help you decide:

• Kittens: Need extra attention and supervision, so they do well with either drop-in visits twice per day or overnight stays.
• Senior cats: Like kittens, they often benefit from more frequent attention, so overnight stays or twice-daily drop-ins are ideal.
• Healthy, self-sufficient cats: If your cat is independent and doesn't need much attention, drop-in visits once per day or every other day might be enough.
• Healthy, attention-loving cats: Cats that enjoy companionship and interaction will thrive with overnight stays or twice-daily drop-ins.
• Cats on special/wet food diets: These cats typically require drop-in visits twice per day to ensure they're getting their meals on time.
• Cats needing medication: The type and frequency of the medication will determine the best care. Overnight stays may be needed depending on the administration schedule.
• Diabetic cats: These cats require specific care and monitoring, so drop-in visits twice per day or overnight stays are recommended.
• Special needs cats: Cats with special needs often require extra care and attention, making overnight stays the most suitable option.

Yes, sitters can administer medications during an overnight stay, but it depends on the sitter's comfort level and skills. While many cat sitters on Meowtel may be comfortable handling medications, not all may be comfortable administering every type of medication. For example, some sitters may be comfortable with oral medications or injections, while others may only be comfortable with inhalers and ointments.

You can filter sitters by their medication experience when booking and choose one that matches your cat's needs. We recommend discussing your cat's medication schedule, instructions, and the level of difficulty with your sitter in advance to ensure they are comfortable with the tasks. This way, both you and your sitter can agree on a plan that works for your cat's specific needs.

An overnight stay typically lasts a minimum of 12 hours, beginning in the evening and ending the next morning. However, the exact timing can vary depending on the agreement between you and your sitter. If you have specific schedule requirements, such as a different start or end time, or if your sitter has any availability constraints, these details can be discussed and adjusted to suit both parties.

Be sure to communicate your preferred timing when booking to ensure the overnight stay fits your cat's routine and your sitter's schedule.

To ensure your sitter has everything they need for a smooth stay, here are a few things you may want to prepare:

• Sleeping arrangements: Make sure your sitter has a comfortable place to sleep during their overnight stay. This could be a guest room, a couch, or another suitable space.
• Wi-Fi access: Provide your sitter with your Wi-Fi details if they'll need it during their stay.
• Emergency contacts: Share any important emergency contact information. Make sure to fill out your Vet Release Form (which includes your vet's contact details and address), your emergency contact information, and any other relevant instructions in case of unexpected situations.
• Cat care instructions: Leave clear instructions for your sitter regarding your cat's feeding, medication, and any special care they need.
• Access to your home: Provide keys or access codes as necessary to ensure your sitter can enter your home.

By preparing these basics, you can help your sitter focus on providing the best care for your cat during their overnight visit.

If your cat experiences a serious emergency during an overnight stay, your sitter will take your cat to the vet listed on your Vet Release Form. If the Vet Release Form has not been completed, the sitter and/or Meowtel will contact you immediately to get guidance on where to take your cat for care.

For any urgent situations, Meowtel's support team is available to assist as well. You can reach us by calling 1-844-MEOWTEL or emailing bellhop@meowtel.com. Rest assured, we are committed to helping your cat receive the care they need.

Yes, you can combine overnight visits with drop-in visits, as long as your sitter offers both services. This flexibility allows you to create a customized care plan that fits your cat's specific needs and schedule. Feel free to discuss with your sitter to arrange a combination that works best for you and your cat.

The cost of overnight cat sitting varies depending on the sitter and their rates. If a sitter offers overnight stays, you will see their rates on their Meowtel profile.
